Creative Writing: Complete with Martin Keaveney
All Participants attend a weekly seminar from January to December, where their writing is read and discussed regularly (This course runs adjacent to ‘Creative Writing: Single Project’) . Each semester, they also select from a range of other creative writing or Irish literature modules available.
New writers can select modules which introduce all the basic crafts and over one academic year progress to more advanced modules which encourage and develop the use of a range of advanced narrative skills and providing specialised knowledge and in-depth discussion and reflection on many different genres and mediums. There is also an opportunity to study over a century of Irish literature. Each writing module provides an opportunity for a FINAL PROJECT with extended editorial.
Advanced or ALUMNI writers can attend a range of specialised modules in areas which particularly interest them, select one-to-one options and benefit from an exciting range of reader responses in a series of workshops throughout the year. Each writing module provides an opportunity for a FINAL PROJECT with extended editorial.
All levels will benefit from literature modules which pay close emphasis on story telling and the process of the professional author.
At the end of the course, participants submit a GRAND PROJECT: a full length work such as novel, play, feature film screenplay or other creative writing project/portfolio of writing. Length can be up to 150,000 words / 3 hour feature film plus synopsis. Full editorial response with advice on how to proceed with the project will be provided in Spring 2023 after the course concludes. Writers may also submit an industry level query for review.
All participants can be assured they are attending a suite of modules which have been finely designed and crafted by an experienced lecturer in Creative Writing and Irish Literature and a practicing writer. Writers will enjoy close attention to their work as it progresses, develop a strong group bond, meet many writers at different levels of experience and working in different genres and mediums and make long lasting friendships. This is a unique and exciting opportunity and it is available all over the world from the comfort of your home.
The objective is for writers to move their writing closer to achieving industry recognition through publication or to independently proceed with their writing projects and share with family and friends. Creative Writing: Complete is an exciting new one-year course which provides writers an opportunity to develop, progress and ultimately gain specialised evaluation of a portfolio of writing/long form manuscript or novel and synopsis up to 150,000 words.
