What will you study? 

There are many different areas of study to go into because it is a broad subject. 

Courses in Mechanical Engineering will cover electronics, mechanics, automation, production, software engineering and also mathematics. They put an emphasis on practical skills. However, they are combined with theoretical skills for a final year project which sees students design and construct a mechatronics device. This part-time course lasts for 3 years and is held on evenings during the week. 

Automotive Engineer Assessor programmes will allow candidates to apply for membership of the IAEA, the Institue of Automated Engineers Assessors. It is a two-year part-time course that will prepare students for entry through experience and successfully passing the selection modules.

 

Meeting the educational needs of the automotive sector is the aim of courses in Automotive Technology and Diagnostics. Graduates of this part-time course will receive a level 7 degree qualification. It is perfect for those who have a QQI Level 6 Higher Certificate in the field and a full Technological Certificate in Motor Car Engineering. 

Mechanical Engineering courses in experienced operating include telescopic handler, slinger signaller, site dumper, mini digger and articulated dumper. These courses aim to teach students how to operate the machine to an acceptable standard. Each course takes just one day to complete. Other course providers also offer these courses but over three days instead of one. 

Light Aircraft Pilot Licence Ground Studies will equip students with technical and theoretical knowledge to assist them in becoming a pilot. It can also help those looking to become a commercial pilot to see if it is something that they would be interested in. 

Those who wish to improve their skills in the refrigeration and air condition sector should take up a course in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology. It will assist those who wish to work with both of these in the industry sector. As well as this, it will help those who wish to enter maintenance or building services. 

What career paths are available to me? 

There are many different paths available to those who wish to study Mechanical Engineering. 

The courses can open up many doors to those wishing to pursue further study in this field. Almost all of these courses have opportunities for students to improve their skills and knowledge by moving on to higher levels of study if they want.
