Dublin 22 includes Clondalkin, Rowlagh, Quarryvale, Liffey Valley and Neilstown. Modern Clondalkin is a busy satellite town of Dublin. The area has a long history. Neolithic tribes first settled in the area around 7,600 years ago, taking advantage of the site's favourable location on the River Camac, overlooking the River Liffey. Saint Cronan Mochua founded a monastic settlement on the River Camac over 1,400 years ago, possibly in the late 6th or early 7th centuries. A round tower was built around two centuries later. Clondalkin was sacked by Vikings from Denmark in 832 AD, and the monastery was burned to the ground. However, the tower survived and is still standing to this day. It is regarded as one of the oldest and best-preserved round tower in Ireland. There are a number of courses available from colleges and course providers in Dublin 22.
