The Modular Programme in Science and Technology Studies is a part-time course which focuses on the knowledge and skill requirements of high-tech industries. The modular structure is designed with flexibility in mind, enabling students to balance study with work and other commitments and to accumulate credits over a time frame that suits their lifestyle. Learning is delivered via a blend of distance and online resources, on-campus tutorials and labs, and company-based projects.

Entry Requirements | Special Entry Requirements Graduates of the Diploma in Science and Technology Studies can automatically progress to the degree. Other applicants over 21 with a diploma in a related area in science or engineering may be considered for direct entry to the degree cycle. Applicants may use experience in addition to academic qualifications to demonstrate that they satisfy the course prerequisites. The following are the entry requirements for our part-time courses: Part-time: If you are aged 21 years or over by January 1st of the year of admission to a part-time course, you may matriculate on the grounds of mature years alone. Therefore, many of the courses detailed state that there are no formal entry requirements involved. If you are aged under 21 on January 1st of the year of admission to a part-time course and are applying for a part-time course at University of Galway, you may, in certain circumstances, be asked to fulfil the matriculation requirements for the University. These include a pass in at least six subjects (including Irish, English and another language) at the Leaving Certificate examination, with at least grade C3 in two subjects at higher level and at least grade D3 (ordinary or higher course) in the remaining four subjects. If you do not meet this matriculation requirement, you may be allowed to submit applications for some courses and you will be assessed on suitability for entry on a case-by-case basis. English Language Requirement An International English Language Testing System (IELTS)/ TOEFL certificate is required if English is not your first language to indicate your competency in written and spoken English for the course you are interested in taking. IELTS/ TOEFL is not required for the language diplomas listed in this prospectus. |
