Course Description
Professional Diploma in Human Rights & Equality
Institute of Public Administration
This Professional Diploma has been developed in conjunction with the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission. A one-year, part-time programme, it seeks to give public servants and others a better understanding of the place that human rights and equality occupy in public management and administration. The responsibility to devise policy, deliver services, and follow processes that protect human rights and further equality has become explicit in the public service since the introduction, via legislation, of a positive duty in this area. This programme provides instruction in the main laws and theories around human rights and equality and examines their implications for civil and wider public service. It will also address the modern history of human rights and equality and the issues that have arisen in specific sectors, including health, education, and criminal justice.
This course will commence in October 2018.
