“Painting for All”
Acrylic paint is a versatile medium that can be used to achieve brightly coloured and fast drying paintings. This ten week course will look at different ways of applying Acrylic paint referencing paintings made since the medium first became widely available in the 1960’s and will look also at more historic examples of paintings and paint application techniques used. With a focus on building practical skills and knowledge the course is expanded to include a brief introduction to line drawing from observation and will have one class taking place as a Saturday group gallery visit. Students will gain painting experience in each class where painting projects will be provided in tandem with demonstrations or slide projection presentations. Students will be encouraged to reflect on class learning by working at home between classes if possible. In preparation for the course students could collect images and paintings that interest them and start a notebook for sketching out ideas for paintings that they would like to make using pencil, colouring pencil, marker, or collage.
