Course Description



From January to April, the School hosts a series of lectures which adopt a thematic approach to the study of literature. The chosen theme varies from year to year, offering members of the public the opportunity to consider English literary works from fresh and thought-provoking perspectives. Themes covered in recent years have included Fear in LiteratureCities in Literature, and Literature and Revolution.

Course Fee €50 for the entire series. Individual lectures are €5 each. Concessionary rates for the full series will be €40 or individual lecture €4 each.The concessionary rate applies to: students, OAPs, unemployed, groups of 20+; TCD staff and Graduates. Teachers bringing groups of students receive a free Teacher Pass.
Course Duration The 10 weekly lecture series commences in the Hillary Term on Tuesday 23rd January 2024. There will be no lecture on Tuesday 5th March 2024.
Course Times Classes begin at 7pm and are hosted in the Jonathan Swift Theatre, Arts Building, Trinity College Dublin. The lecture series will also be recorded. If you purchased a ticket to a particular lecture, to several lectures, or to the entire series, you will be emailed a link to the video recording(s) once these are available (usually the next day). All recordings will be available any time until a few weeks after the lecture series ends.
