Improvers Dressmaking
Crumlin College of Further Education (CDETB)
This Dressmaking course is aimed at the established sewer and intends to build upon their knowledge base adding new skills or improving upon old ones. The creation of new garments or the recreation of old ones, gives the student the opportunity to express their creativity, whilst expanding their skillset and refining their existing abilities. Students are encouraged where possible, to bring their own sewing machines.
Possible areas that could be covered during the course, dependent on individual abilities:
- Garment alterations. Basic garment alteration techniques; judging fit, resizing and repairing.
- Commercial pattern dressmaking.
- Upcycling and re-designing of old garments to give new life to old clothes.
