Health Safety & Environmental Management

This module covers the key requirements of the health, safety and environment legislation including the role and contents of the safety statement, accident prevention, emergency planning, environmental awareness and waste management.
This programme will be offered in blended learning format consisting of a combination of online and in-class lectures.
On completion of this programme, students should be able to:
Explain the key requirements of the Safety Health and Welfare at Work framework legislation;
Explain the contents and function of a Safety Statement;
Explain the concept of risk management and apply the hazard identification and risk assessment process;
Identify and analyse the importance of accident reporting and investigation;
Describe and evaluate the key components of emergency planning and of an evacuation procedure;
Describe the key parameters of an IPC license, analysing how company activities can impact upon this;
Evaluate the role of waste management and detail waste control and minimisation strategies.
