Drama for Language Teaching – Starts January 18th, 2025- 12 week – on ZOOM Saturdays

Looking for creative ways to engage and inspire your language students?
Join our recently updated Drama for Language Teaching course and learn how to use drama effectively to enhance student comprehension, motivation and confidence in the language classroom. The course is facilitated by Miriam Stewart: CELT trainer, English language teacher and Drama in Education practitioner. This course has been expanded to combine Levels 1 & 2 for a 12-week comprehensive course to include brand new sessions and revised and updated material across the board.. Open to both new and returning participants.
Over the first portion fo the course, we will cover the following topics:
How to gradually introduce drama into the classroom
Improvisation games to enhance language learning
Effective use of role play to develop speaking skills
Embodying language-pronunciation and intonation
Embodying language-grammar.
In the second half of the course we will cover lesson planning-incorporating drama effectively into the curriculum blending theory with practice, but will also include more specific topics such as:
Teaching skills through drama (reading, writing, listening, speaking)
Specific groups or learner needs, e.g. Business English
Integrating drama into the curriculum
Embodying grammar-designing embodied activities
Exploring your teaching style through drama
Intro to designing a drama workshop or course
Each workshop will be highly interactive, blending theory and practice to instill a sense of the student experience and providing the opportunity to explore your own creativity as a teacher in a fun, relaxed online environment. There will be opportunities to create and present your own lesson plans and to discuss and design activities with others. Both the online and face to face classroom environment will be considered in all sessions.
Class sizes will be small (12 maximum) to ensure quality support and interaction for each participant. Book now to ensure your place!
Access to ZOOM is required for this course.
We will be keeping the same SMALL CLASS SIZE in order to maintain the highest standard of tutoring and full interaction. There will be constant interaction and creative engagement.
You must have a good steady connection to the internet, and a laptop or tablet device with a camera and microphone (smart phone alone will not suffice for this course) in order to participate in this class on ZOOM. It will be important that you are in a quiet location where you can stand, move around and make noise!
