Course Outline
This programme is intensive and rewarding for the learner providing the practical experience and knowledge needed for employment in the Heritage and Tourism industry or move into further education.
EMPLOYMENT: Many of our graduates have secured work in heritage sites such as, Dublin Castle, Saint Patricks Cathedral, National Museum of Ireland, Kilmainham Gaol, Rathfarnham Castle and Newgrange to name a few.
FURTHER EDUCATION: A number of graduates from our course have chosen to advance to further education and enrol in courses such as – Ancient history and archaeology in Trinity College Dublin, Classics, Art History & Archaeology in University College Dublin, Modern History and Celtic Studies in Maynooth University and Tourism Management in Technological University Dublin.

• To enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence in a range of core disciplines in Irish culture and heritage studies.
• To demonstrate a broad range of knowledge in the disciplines of Archaeology, Folklore and Ethnology, History and other areas of study relevant to Irish culture and heritage.

Course Duration | The course is full time running for 47 weeks. The hours are 9am - 4:15pm Monday-Friday with weekend work and bank holidays required during work experience. |
Course Times | The hours are full time 9.00 to 4.30 pm Monday to Friday. No part time option available but please see our other courses for short and part time heritage courses. |

Career Path | This course will be of interest to anyone wanting to work in the tourism or heritage industries in Ireland or to go on to further study at university level. Past learners have achieved employment with Dublinia Heritage Centre, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Glasnevin Cemetery, the Guinness Storehouse, Malahide Castle and Farmleigh House among other prominent historical sites. This course can also be used to gain points to apply to some Irish universities. |
