CIEH Licensing Law Awareness

CIEH Licensing Law Awareness

Overview

It is important for employees to understand that licensing laws are implemented to protect the public. If you work within retail and have an establishment that serves alcohol to the public, it is good to understand that certain laws must be followed by the people responsible for serving. The Licensing Law Awareness course is developed for anyone working in an establishment where alcohol is served and want to be aware of legal requirements, minimum responsibilities and the effects of alcohol consumption.

The Licensing Law Act was introduced in 2003 and the Licensing Law Awareness course covers key topics such as alcohol and its effects, personal responsibility when serving the public, underage drinking and how to safeguard children, preventing trouble and dealing with incidents. Employees who work in establishments that serve alcohol should do it responsibly and ensure that they protect the public in accordance to the Licensing Law Act.

The Licensing Law Act is applied in England and Wales for any individual who works, sells or supplies alcohol in an establishment. The premise must be safe and adhere to the Licensing Law Act where the public comes to no harm.
