Microsoft Ireland and TU Dublin have developed this course as a response to the shortage of Cyber and Enterprise Analyst professionals in Industry. It is intended to provide opportunities for those who might not otherwise have access to a route into a career in the IT sector.
This course provides foundational knowledge in computing across the range of disciplines necessary to be an effective resource in an ICT organisation with a focus on Cyber Security. The learning is equivalent to the first element of the current Level 6, Higher Certificate in Computing (Information systems) providing the basis for ongoing development for a major award in Computing while being an excellent, useful early career focused set of knowledge. It provides a broad-based computing programme to develop students for careers as IS support Associates and Junior Cybersecurity Analysts. The content is delivered in a 21st century IT context using modern virtualisation, cloud, and software tooling.
In addition to the formal module learning, using experiential learning, students will be enrolled on basic certification courses in respect of IS Security (Microsoft) and Cloud (Azure), prepared for the workplace and supported to find a suitable placement.

Entry Requirements | Minimum admissions criteria for this course will be the same as for Level 6 Higher Certificate programmes: A grade of O6/H7 in five subjects including Mathematics and either English or Irish. The minimum entry requirements for graduates of QQI Level 5 or 6 awards is any full award which must include Mathematics (C20139) or Mathematics for Computing (C20175) or Mathematics for Engineering (C20174). Mature Students/Non-standard Entrants TU Dublin supports access for students from non-traditional backgrounds. Candidates who are over 23 on the year of admission maybe admitted based on independently verified experience. This process may require CV, independent references, interview and an aptitude test. Candidates for entry under this process may be asked to undertake a Maths and/or English Communications assessment. |
