OBJECTIVES OF THIS LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT COURSE
- To understand the role that strengths-based leadership and positive psychology play in achieving results, and in creating a positive work environment
- To recognize the benefits of integrating positive psychology into the workplace, namely to build resilience, neutralize stress, build optimism and open-mindedness, thereby helping individuals to excel in their performance
- To define a strength and to appreciate the benefits of applying strengths more in the workplace
- To identify your own strengths using the Clifton Strengths Finder and to learn how to help your team to identify theirs
- To explore how you might use or develop some of your strengths more
- To distinguish between performance goals and learning goals and how they relate to our mindset and to growth
- To discover various techniques to use in the workplace to stay ‘in the positive zone’
LEAD OTHERS EFFECTIVELY BY USING A STRENGTHS-BASED LEADERSHIP MODEL TO ACHIEVE RESULTS Research from the Corporate Leadership Council (2002) reveals that Managers/Leaders who operated with a strengths emphasis unlocked 36.4% higher performance from their employees whereas Managers/Leaders with a weakness emphasis reduced their employees’ performance by 26.8%.
