Portuguese Language Centre
Portuguese Language Centre is an ONLINE school exclusively dedicated to teaching Portuguese as a foreign language to adults. Learn with us from introductory level to fluency.
The Portuguese Language Centre was founded in 2010 by the Portuguese language teacher Juliana Menezes to teach and promote the language in Ireland.
Every year, hundreds of students from all over the globe learn Portuguese with us for various reasons and purposes. For more than 13 years now we have been providing high quality classes for people who have partners from Brazil, Portugal, Angola or Mozambique and for others who come to study in order to be able to communicate well in Portuguese, to go on a trip, work in one of the countries where Portuguese is spoken or simply for fun.
We deliver high quality Brazilian Portuguese and European Portuguese private and small group classes over five terms, each of eight weeks, each year. We offer different types of classes, from complete beginner to advanced, from afternoon to evening – all online since mid-March 2020.
Our online group classes hold a maximum of 8 students allowing for more interactive lessons and quicker improvement. Students have access to the course material through a learning management system and attend a weekly live class with a qualified and experienced Portuguese language teacher. Our course material is prepared in-house, following the level structure we developed over the years, to gradually increase your proficiency in Portuguese. All courses include practice of speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.

I’ve done 3 levels here so far- beginners level 1, 2 and 3.
I’ve been taught by Juliana for all of them, and she’s one of the most incredible teachers I’ve ever had.
The classes are well structured, and are actually fun. Juliana helps you converse in Portuguese from the start, even if you have no vocabulary (I know it sounds impossible, but she has a knack for helping you pick up words and phrases really quickly).
I had used Duolingo for a while in between lessons, and while that helps with vocabulary and comprehension, the real skill in learning a language is being able to structure your sentences and converse well.
I can’t believe how much progress I’ve made and how much I’ve learnt in such a short space of time but it’s all down to the fantastic teaching and attention to detail Juliana brings to each lesson.
My job means I sometimes have to reschedule lessons and Juliana and Liz are more than helpful when that arises. I would recommend this school 100%. If you start here, you’ll get a lot of joy out of learning the language, and you’ll amaze yourself with the progress you’ll make here.
Have been doing courses at the language centre for the past year now (European Portuguese) and Marta, our teacher is fantastic. She makes it fun to learn and explains everything really well. Classes are small (around 6 students) and that makes it all the better to learn the language. Portuguese ain’t easy to learn, but this is a great spot to make a start of it!
