East Coast Art Studio is a modern art school and academy rolled into 1. We welcome people of all levels and interests. Work in a collective atmosphere while exploring individual artistic goals and interests. Clients use these classes to gradually increase their knowledge. For example, students may choose to develop a portfolio for college, a body of work for an exhibition, a large abstract work, copy of an impressionist or classical image, or use their own images to create a landscape or portrait. Beginners learn how to set up a palette, use brushes correctly, mix color and apply paint to create their work. Intermediate and practicing artists have used these sessions to improve technique, develop a personal style, deepen understanding of color mixing, and sharpen their ability identify color and technique in master works.
Participants receive individual time with the teacher to ask questions, discuss ideas, and work through techniques. All classes include ongoing live demonstrations from the teacher to highlight various techniques relevant to student’s interests, be they contemporary or classical. Use the time to study the styles of artists such as Goya, Picasso, Van Gogh, Egon Schiele, Francis Bacon, Diego Velazquez, Monet, Marlene Dumas and Peter Doig, or simply pursue your own style and work from images and drawings you bring to the studio. See client testimonials and examples of student work in our gallery .
