The Radio School, based in Dublin, is enrolling for its Autumn evening classes in radio broadcasting. Their Beginners Radio Broadcasting course provides practical, hands-on training to those wishing to learn how to produce and present a radio show or work behind the scenes in a radio station.
The next course dates are Tuesday 22nd October and Tuesday 12th November, 2019. The courses run over 5 Tuesday evenings with one Saturday afternoon workshop during the course. The course costs €320.
The course is aimed at people of all ages and is suitable for those keen to find out more about radio in Ireland. No previous experience is necessary. The Beginners Radio Broadcasting Course has been run since 1995. The course is commonly attended by those with an interest in radio broadcasting, those seeking employment in the radio industry as well as those that may have some knowledge of broadcasting and are looking to learn more about the radio business. Tuition is provided over 5 weeks, with five Tuesday evening and one Saturday class and covers presentation skills, voice training, editing, news, script-writing and technical skills. Learn how radio works, how to record interviews and vox pops, identifying your audience, writing for radio and creating a showreel. It also offers an overview of RTE, national, regional, local and community radio, takes a look at what goes on behind the scenes and includes discussion of music scheduling, audience research and the do’s and don’ts of broadcasting.
