STEM South West 2019is an innovative industry-sponsored interactive STEM exhibition showcasing STEM Careers and Activities in the South West region. This free event, a collaboration between industry and academia, is specifically aimed at providing post-primary students and their supporters(parents, teachers, guidance counsellors), as well as career changers and job seekers,with the opportunity to explore the benefits a STEM career can offer for theirfuture.
This event will feature technology demonstrations showcasing STEM products and systems in action, career talks, expert panel and Q&A sessions, competitions and spot prizes, and will provide an opportunity for attendees to connect with people who work in STEM on a daily basis.
The Executive Committee, comprising members from industry (DePuy Synthes – Johnson & Johnson, Gilead Sciences, PLAS Engineering), Higher Education Institutes (Cork Institute of Technology, University College Cork), local government (Cork County Council), not-for-profit (KerrySciTech) and the Southern Regional Skills Forum, is working with over 150 STEM stakeholders (education providers, MNCs, SMEs, government agencies, public/private initiatives) to identify and address problems facing the STEM Sector in the South West in the context of increased global uncertainty, Brexit and technological disruption.
