Our relationship with time is complex. Time challenges are prevalent across the globe and have detrimental impacts on physical health, mental health, interpersonal relationships, and workplace experiences. As psychologists and practitioners, facilitating greater time awareness is paramount to support the health, wellbeing, and performance of ourselves and our clients. This talk will guide participants to consider our complex relationship with time and to further understand the empirical evidence showcasing its widespread impacts on our lives, work, and relationships. The talk will then introduce participants to the concept of time awareness and will present research findings related to the integration of time awareness approaches in psychological practice. Specifically, the talk will present recent findings from a pilot randomised controlled trial that implemented a time awareness coaching intervention to support hybrid workers’ work-time practices and wellbeing. Alongside the presentation of theory and empirical evidence, this talk will engage participants to consider their own relationship with time and how they might apply time awareness approaches within their own personal and professional lives. The talk will conclude with a Q&A to further discuss the practical implications of the research.
