What are my career opportunities with this degree?
That is a very important question to ask at this time.
The BA in Social Care equips students with the knowledge, skills and abilities to work in a variety of social care contexts. Employment opportunities exist in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors in a variety of community-based and residential settings.
With the introduction of CORU Registration and Regulation, there will be a requirement for Social Care Workers to be qualified with a minimum level 7 award. Social Care workers typically work with services for:
- People with disabilities
- Children in Care
- Marginalised and Minority groups
- Addiction
- Homelessness
- Family support
- Older People
The OTC, like all the other colleges and universities offering Social Care degrees today, is seeking approval from CORU for the BA in Social Care course. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this process has been delayed. OTC expect the process to be completed in 2022, to allow for the opening of the CORU register for Social Care Workers in 2023.
