About Mary Immaculate College (MIC)
Mary Immaculate College was established in 1898, became a recognised college of the National University of Ireland in July, 1974, and on 1st November, 1999 became academically linked with the University of Limerick.
Fewer then 300 students attended the college in the early 1990’s which is a significant difference to today when over 3,000 students are attending Mary Immaculate College. Previously a devoted teacher training college, it diversified in 1992 to offer a Liberal Arts Degree and a Post Graduate Degree to doctoral level. The University of Limerick is the certifying body. Arts subjects currently offered to degree level include English, French, Gaeilge, Geography, German, History, Mathematics, Media and Communication Studies , Music, Philosophy, Psychology, and Theology & Religious Studies.
