Pobalscoil Neasáin Adult Education is offering a beginners car home maintenance course. This course is for people with either some or no knowledge of basic car maintenance and home servicing.
What you will learn
Once you have completed the course, you will have the skills to complete the following:
- Service (petrol car)
- Service (Diesel car)
- Brake pads front and back
- Pre NCT checks
- Changing body panels
- Bleeding a clutch
- On board computer diagnostics

Hi. I’ve been considering learning basic maintenance of my car. I don’t know how to use jump leads if it won’t start, I never learned how to change oil, top up water, change a wheel or any of the necessary things to keep my car safe and running all the time. I was wondering if I could get information regarding the course you run and how much it would cost. Also, where the school is in relation to Rathcoole. I am a bus driver and work shifts and also a busy mother of one boy starting secondary. So, I would have to consider my time and when I could squeeze in a night to do this. But I’m at my wits end over how frequently I rely on other people to bale me out when a problem occurs, which happens moreso now that my car is old. It’s a 2004 Ibiza. So If I could have some information on your next course and whether it ticks the boxes above, I would be greatly obliged.
