About Grafton Academy of Fashion Design

The Grafton Academy of Fashion Design runs full-time and part-time day and evening courses in fashion design, tailoring, dressmaking and millinery in Dublin.

Established in 1938, they were the first fashion design school in Ireland. As a result, they have a long tradition of design and tailoring. They specialise in the teaching of design, pattern cutting and garment construction.

They also have strong links with the fashion industry. Therefore, many of their graduates become designers, assistant designers and pattern cutters with major design studios and manufacturers. They work in all areas of fashion. This includes high street brands, evening, bridal, couture, lingerie and children’s as well as corporate, performance sports and menswear. Other career opportunities include fashion writing, stylist, buyer, as well as designing and making costumes for wardrobe, theatre, film, television and dance.

Many Grafton Academy of Fashion Design graduates work in design houses in Dublin, London, Paris, New York and Milan. In addition, graduates have set up companies within Ireland.
