The Adult Learner has issued a Call for abstracts for its next edition. The deadline to submit an abstract for the 2021 journal is next Monday, 28th September.

The Adult Learner – the only peer reviewed Irish Journal of Adult and Community Education. Founded in the mid-1980s this long established, highly regarded journal is essential reading for anyone interested in or studying adult learning.

Call for Abstracts: 2021’s edition of The Adult Learner will focus on the impact of COVID-19 on adult, community and further education.

The Adult Learner, the Irish Journal of adult and community education is a valuable resource that documents the growth and development of adult learning policy and practice. It provides a forum for critical reflection on the practices of teaching and learning, giving priority to subject matter that addresses disadvantage, social exclusion, equality, workplace learning and the study of the teacher/student relationship.

All editions of the Irish Journal of Adult and Community Education, The Adult Learner, from 1985 – 2018, are available free of charge for download here.

  • A few points to note:
    The maximum word count includes any footnotes and references
  • Only one submission will be accepted per author for the 2020 edition of
  • The Adult Learner unless otherwise permitted by the Editorial Board

All papers submitted undergo a peer-review process which involves at least two reviewers. Where contributions are accepted this may be
on condition that changes recommended by reviewers and the Editorial Board are taken into account. Adult Learner recommend that authors
consider the diversity of its readership and ask that articles are written with an international readership in mind.
