AONTAS is currently hiring an EU Projects Officer. To be responsible for the project management, implementation and administration of the European Agenda for Adult Learning (EAAL) and other EU funded projects.

This person will work from a social justice perspective in line with the mission and values of AONTAS the National Adult Learning Organisation. They will work closely with AONTAS members, the European Commission, project partners and other stakeholders representing the organisation at national and international meetings and events. They will contribute to the wider work of AONTAS and be an active part of the Advocacy team.

Description

Purpose of the Role

To be responsible for the project management, implementation and administration of the European Agenda for Adult Learning (EAAL) and other EU funded projects. This person will work from a social justice perspective in line with the mission and values of AONTAS the National Adult Learning Organisation. They will work closely with AONTAS members, the European Commission, project partners and other stakeholders representing the organisation at national and international meetings and events. They will contribute to the wider work of AONTAS and be an active part of the Advocacy team.

Key responsibilities

Project Management

  • Oversee the planning, implementing, and reporting of the EAAL project including project management of events and monitoring project stakeholders’ activities
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and reporting of EU funded project(s) as appropriate
  • Responsible for Project Advisory Group meetings, overseeing administration and reporting
  • Participate in relevant European Commission meetings regarding the roles and
  • Ensure the EAAL project is carried out on time and ensure quality outputs/services from Projects
  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure delivery of results of EU funded projects
  • Responsible for monitoring the financial aspects in line with the project budget and in collaboration with the Head of Advocacy and Finance & Administration Lead

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise, and communicate effectively, with all project partners and relevant stakeholders regarding the EAAL project/other EU funded projects with CEO
  • Identify other key stakeholders for future ERASMUS+ project opportunities
  • Responsible for developing effective relationships with key stakeholders in the European Commission (as appropriate)
  • Identify and nurture new collaborative relationships with stakeholders in the adult and community field at national and international level for potential future ERASMUS+ projects

Applying for new ERASMUS+/EU funded projects

  • Keep abreast of new EU/ERASMUS+ funding opportunities and communicate to staff and AONTAS members
  • Make applications for new ERASMUS+/EU funded projects, as appropriate, in collaboration with CEO

Communication/dissemination

  • Promote the EAAL project and AONTAS as National Co-ordinator of the European Agenda for Adult Learning externally in collaboration with Head of Communications
  • Promote the successes and outcomes of the EU funded project to AONTAS membership, nationally and internationally
  • Effectively communicate internally on developments within the EAAL project

Contribute to developing AONTAS

At all times, operate to the highest professional, ethical and performance standards. This includes adapting effortlessly to changing circumstances in AONTAS and undertaking, surrendering or realigning any responsibility, within reason, the CEO requires. Requirements

Core Requirements

  • Educated to Degree level 8 (with preference for education studies or social science)
  • Must have at least 3 years proven experience in management of European or international projects (control of management tools, monitoring tables of activities, budgets, organizational planning, reporting, administration etc.)
  • Strong written and presentation skills
  • Highly proficient in English, additional European Languages desirable

Required Experience

  • Experience in developing and implementing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders
  • Understanding of EU policy desirable
  • Relevant experience in developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships
  • Working knowledge of the adult and community education /further education and training sector
  • Experience of delivering first-class reports
  • Excellent writing and IT skills including Microsoft packages, Web and CRM
  • Proven ability to meet targets and work to deadlines

  • Produce high quality mid-term and final reports to European Commission, funders and any other stakeholder
  • Develop and highlight the profiles of key Projects at National and European level

Line Manager
The European Projects Officer’s direct line report is to the Head of Advocacy with ultimate reporting resting with the CEO of AONTAS.

Benefits

This a temporary (fixed term) employment contract until the end of February 2022. A probation period of six months will apply. AONTAS offers an attractive pension scheme. AONTAS provides an income protection scheme for staff. Annual Leave is 25 days. The AONTAS Office is open from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday. The basic working week is 37 hrs. However, the work of the European Projects Officer requires flexibility with some unsocial hours and travel, including international.

Annual Salary

The salary offered will be commensurate with experience and will be within the parameters of the salary scale for this role is: 28,742 – 31,288 – 31,619 – 34,420 – 38,004 – 40,734 – 43,463 – 46,202 – 48,930 – 51,653 – 53,532 – 55,415.
