Today, December 10th, marks Human Rights Day. This annual observance commemorates the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948. This landmark document outlines the fundamental rights and freedoms that belong to every person, regardless of their nationality, race, gender, religion, or other status.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a cornerstone of international human rights law. It enshrines the inalienable rights to life, liberty, and security of person; freedom of thought, conscience, and religion; freedom of opinion and expression; and the right to education, among others.
On this Human Rights Day, let’s reaffirm our commitment to upholding these fundamental rights and working towards a world where everyone enjoys dignity, equality, and justice.
