The National Tour Guide Training programme at Dublinia will provide participants with the skills, knowledge and competencies to deliver and manage a comprehensive tour management and guiding service for tourists visiting and travelling in Ireland.
National Tour Guide Training Programme at Dublinia – Three Modules:
- Irish Tour Guiding
- Irish Natural Heritage & Culture
- National Tour Management
Each successful graduate will receive the QI Level 6 Special Purpose Award in National Tour Guid- ing (6S20232.) This award will qualify the graduate to receive the Fáilte Ireland tour guide badge.

Course Duration: Programme duration is 12 weeks in total – comprising 8 weeks of intensive directed and self-directed training (9.00 am – 5.00 pm) followed by 4 weeks of practical and self-directed learning to complete written and practical assignments and assessments.

Course Aims
- To train and prepare learners to work as a tour guide in the heritage tourism sector at a national level.
- To equip the learners with the skills needed for group management including health and safety environmental best practices and customer care.
- To equip the learners with the professional, technical, social, personal and administrative skills to prepare and offer a quality guided service to a range of market profiles.
- To ensure learner’s understanding and knowledge of tourism and heritage industry best practice.
- To equip learners with the professional awareness to evaluate and respond to the range of issues ongoing in the industry e.g. main bodies, legislation, sustainability, development and protection of heritage.
- To develop skills in research (online and other serviced sources,) interpretation and delivery of information on Irish Heritage and Culture and develop an understanding and appreciation of Ireland’s Culture and Heritage in a National and International context.
- To interpret and understand key aspects of Ireland’s history, archaeology and heritage.
- To enhance and support learner opportunities for employment and further education and to facilitate learner progression, personal development and enhancement of learning skills.
Walk where Vikings walked before. Travel back to the city in Viking times. See what life was like on-board a Viking warship, see the weaponry and learn the skills of being a Viking warrior. Try on Viking clothes, become a slave and stroll down a noisy street. Visit a smoky and cramped Viking house and learn about the myths and mysteries surrounding the Vikings and their legacy.
