The Goethe-Institut invite you to Meet the Author #18: Daniel Schreiber on May 17, 2022 at 07:00 PM.
Daniel Schreiber will be discussing hs novel Alone – At no time have so many people lived alone, and never has it been felt more elementarily how brutally self-determined life can turn into loneliness. But can one ever be happy alone? And why is living alone in a society of individualists perceived as shameful failure?
Drawing on his own experiences, philosophical and sociological ideas, Daniel Schreiber explores the tension between the desire for retreat and freedom and the desire for closeness, love and community. In doing so, he sheds light on the role that friendships play in this life model: Can they be an answer to the loss of meaning in a crisis-ridden world? A deeply enlightening book about how we want to live.
