AONTAS (The National Adult Learning Organisation), in collaboration with the Further Education and Training (FET) streategy, is to organise a National Adult Learner Forum.
The mission of AONTAS is to advocate for the right of all adults in Ireland to quality learning throughout their lives, and to promote the value and benefits of lifelong learning.
AONTAS works to raise the profile of adult and community education. It’s represented on a number of key policy committees involved in adult education. This representational work enables the organisation to influence policy development in relation to adult education.
Through its policy work AONTAS lobbies to influence the development of policy in relation to adult education.
Further education and training are the main objectives for AONTAS. The Strategic Plan 2014 -2018 Goal 1 states that: Advocating and lobbying for the development of a quality service for adult learners, is a top priority.
AONTAS will research and listen to feedback regarding FET programmes from participants.
The first National Adult Learner Meeting is scheduled to take place next year, on 24th February 2016.
